Work
on your English pronunciation whenever
you wish (without embarrassment) with this easy to follow tutoring
program.
You will not learn correct pronunciation from a book.
- It may sound obvious but you cannot improve your speech without
actually speaking.
Here is a way to learn the correct pronunciation and do speech
training exercises anywhere you have a PC.
Simply copy the lip
movements, speech patterns and accent of the video presenter.
English words are made up of multiple sounds
represented by letters. To speak English clearly it is essential to
correctly pronounce these basic sounds. Without these basic
phonics, word building and consequently conversation is always
difficult. The way phonics are pronounced also determines a
speaker’s accent.
The ‘Mouth Gym’ PCVIDEOCD program provides
training exercises for the alphabet letters, consonants plus vowels
and blended consonants (both beginning and ending) plus vowels. The
phonics practised are then used in words in a sentence. The work-out
strengthens the mouth and tongue muscles which are needed to form
unfamiliar phonics. Once phonics are mastered, unfamiliar words can
be broken down into sounds resulting in more confident pronunciation
and understandable speech. For maximum results, it is recommended that
combination exercises be practised daily, concentrating on
weak areas.
The ‘Mouth Gym’ circuit uses hundreds of
multimedia audio and video clips for interactive training.
Users can interact at their own pace and ensure correct
pronunciation by copying the native Australian English speaker and watching
her
lip movements.
You can even record yourself to compare pronunciations.
Guidelines for
using Mouth Gym to establish correct Australian English
Pronunciation.
If English is not your first language, there will be sounds
in the English language you have never heard before.
These are the sounds you will need to practise the most.
Knowing how to correctly
pronounce phonic sounds is the first step to clear, understandable
speech.
Practice is the road to spontaneous pronunciation - there is no
substitute for repetition.
Practice is a simple, yet powerful way to improve English
pronunciation and accent.
1. Select Foundational Phonics Training -Assess and
learn all of the phonics and phonic blends.
Listen to the Alphabets, individual phonics and all vowels for
sounds that are unfamiliar orare difficult for you to pronounce.
Note these for further attention. When fluent with these
foundations:-
2. Go to the Individual Phonics section to select
and practise phonic and vowel combinations.
3. Proceed to the Phonic Blend Training pages to
practise the problem phonic in a blended phonic and vowel
combination. Once confident with all of your previous ‘problem
sounds’
4. Go to the Advanced Page and practice until the
pronunciation comes naturally.
When phonics are pronounced easily and fluently, the flow-on effect
is improved, more confident speech and a reduction in accent. All
words are constructed using phonic sounds. Words break down or
decode using phonics.
5. Vocabulary - Grammar - Conversation Training
Australian 'talk radio' is a great medium to listen to
pronunciation, speech rhythm, word stress, accent and idioms. Listen
and mimic the speakers to practise speaking like an Australian.
Links are also provided to ‘test your grammar’ and ‘improve your
vocabulary’.
Mp3 files of all of the exercises are included on the CD so you can
use your iPod to practise whilst travelling or you can burn the ones
that you require most to your own personal training CD for use
whilst driving.
This program provides flexibility training for
the mouth and tongue to move in unfamiliar ways
- enabling better sound formation and greatly reducing the users
native accent.
